Biography
Archie Held was born in Palo Alto, California and has been creating metal sculptures since the 1970's. He worked on his undergraduate degree at UCLA in painting, sculpture and graphic arts from 1975 to 1979. He continued at UCLA working on his Master's degree in sculpture. He is the winner of the Jim Marcelius Memorial Scholarship Award for Sculpture 1980.
Held's flawlessly designed and executed water sculptures combine a clean architectural context with sensuously flowing curves. As he employs only the best available materials to fastidiously construct his incomparable fountains, they invariably provide many years of carefree delight and assured enjoyment. The artist's minimalist sculptural works exhibit the same concern for pure form and rhythmic energy. Held's outstanding pieces are found in many public, corporate, and private collections throughout the world.
An internationally recognized artist who has been creating sculpture since the late 1970s, Archie Held’s Studio, founded in 1985 and based in Richmond, California, has produced over 500 pieces of artwork and currently employs a team of 10 talented artists and metal fabricators. Archie works primarily in bronze and stainless steel; water is often used as a central element to further complement the simple and elegant designs. The appeal of his tranquil creations has led to several private as well as public art commissions. He enjoys working with clients on custom site-specific projects and welcomes collaborations with designers and architects.

Walk it off in style with some great art on this beautiful sunny day! Canyon is as beautiful post- farolito walk as it is on Christmas eve- and less crazy!
